Shapoorji
A range re-created by chairperson Mrs. Dilnavaz Variava from the 1920s BFT Catalogue.

Shapoorji was the first factory manager of the Bharat Flooring Tile Company, established in 1922 near the small fishing village of Mora, Uran. The factory had to generate its own electricity, water supply, communication system and transport tiles by fishing boats to Bombay. Shapoorji faced these challenges and established Bharat’s meticulous traditions of quality. He managed its 800 workers with an iron hand and a caring heart. He was called the King of Uran as he headed the Uran Municipality with the same competence, courage and integrity with which he ran Bharat’s tile factory.

Symbolism

Strong straightforward lines indicate the control of his all-encompassing sphere of work in the factory, as symbolized by the circles – which, along with the dots at the tip of the straight lines, reflect the softer caring side of a father figure to the factory workers and the people of Mora Uran who therefore elected him for this combination of qualities as President of the Municipality. The colours in black and grey denote his strong administrative skills, the white is for the integrity and purity of his management.
